Plants perhaps don’t have an opinion about what style of music you play next to them, but they have evolved much more sophisticated strategies over the millions of years they have been around.
But they can’t understand you talking to them either.
Given how old plants are, compared to the historic timeline of humans on the planet, and all animal life, for that matter, it should be expected that creatures that belong to the plants branch of the tree of life, with millions and millions of years under their belt, such creatures must have evolved enough over those millions of years to have developed an intelligence of some sort.
It’s true that humans are so arrogant that they think they’re the only ones to have the capacity to be intelligent or to define what intelligence is. But it’s all that we can understand and see for now.
So, given our available scientific methods, some great research has been done in the field, some of which is presented in the following lecture shared by the World Science Foundation through their World Science Festival channel.
Watch and be amazed!
